A+E Networks UK transitions operations of 30 channels
to the cloud with Amagi
A+E Networks UK is a prominent media network reaching 60 million homes across 100 countries. Entertaining and inspiring audiences for over two decades, the network offers a vast portfolio of high-performing and creative brands. A+E Networks UK has partnered with 360+ pay-TV operators to broadcast channels in the Nordics, Benelux, Central Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The company is headquartered in New York and has offices in London, Warsaw, and Johannesburg.
The Problem
Moving channel playout and service delivery to the cloud
A+E Networks UK wanted to transition the playout and service delivery of its entire bouquet of 30 channels to the cloud. They also sought support for 23 channels of A+E Networks UK and seven channels of A+E Networks Italia. The network wanted a business continuity solution to start with and later expand to primary playout.
The Solution
A two-phased approach for cloud transition with Amagi CLOUDPORT
Based on the requirement, Amagi implemented the solution in two phases. In the first phase, Amagi enabled cold business continuity playout, providing systems and workflow integration, media ingest workflows, and test playout at a limited cost commitment. In the second phase, Amagi CLOUDPORT, our broadcast-grade channel playout platform, helped ingest over 50K hours of content to the cloud and enabled full playout transition and channel delivery to affiliates in days.
Amagi also set up redundant playouts, facilitated fiber-based delivery, and offered managed services with 24x7 monitoring.

Fully virtualized broadcast operations with Amagi
With all their playout chains in the cloud, A+E Networks UK gained complete control and visibility of the broadcast operations. Cloud also enabled easy scalability.
Remote access to broadcast operations allowed seamless collaboration across geographically distributed teams and third party partners for broadcast workflows and ad sales.
